About Our Program

We are small in-home breeders of Mini and Medium Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles. We start with intelligent, health and temperament tested dogs to lay a strong foundation. We follow BAB protocols, integrating a structured curriculum, individual to each puppy’s developmental needs, to empower them in their future growth.

What is B.A.B and the Empowered Badass Breeder Oath? It’s an all-inclusive Breeder training program designed by Jeanette Forrey from 4E Kennels, raising the bar for all breeders. Continue reading to find out what this means for you and your future puppy.

We Believe In:

Loving your dogs, love your puppies, love your clients. Love and be Badass or stop breeding

Badass Breeder Oath

1. Plan litters – have a goal/focus/mission and CLIENTS (don’t overpopulate).

2. Breed from only healthy, good tempered parents that have been health tested.

3. Honor and respect your dam – before and after whelping – keep her happy and healthy. The same for your sires (vet care, high quality food, living quarters, etc.).

4. Ensure all puppies learn the world is safe, people are kind, and dogs are friendly.

5. Guide, shape and mold puppies based upon critical periods, constantly evaluating and adjusting. Work on confidence, nerve strength and startle recovery.

6.Evaluate puppies, provide information to buyers. Have the puppies seen by a vet and then and only then let clients choose their puppy that is healthy and best suits their needs, as well as the puppy’s needs.

7. Take 100% responsibility for every puppy you produce for the entirety of their life.

8. 2 year contract – most genetic issues are not seen in one year, so be fair.

9. Educate your new clients. Keep in touch with them and create a community. You need word of mouth and you need their feedback.

10. Love your dogs, love your puppies, love your clients and be on a mission to change the stigma. Be badass or stop breeding.

We Use Proven Methods

We use Early Neurological Stimulation on all of our litters. From years of studies by the U.S. Military Canine Program, we know that the interval of time between day 3 and 16 is the most crucial window of time for the rapid development and growth of the neurological system in puppies. For these first few days, these very young puppy’s eyes and ears are closed, and they are only able to suck, smell, and crawl. To encourage their neurological growth and development, we follow a program called “Bio-Sensor” or later termed “Super Puppy” training which according to studies will give dogs a superior advantage in life.

Documented Benefits of Early Neurological Stimulation:

  • Improved cardio vascular performance
  • Stronger heart beats
  • Stronger adrenal glands
  • More tolerance to stress
  • Greater resistance to disease

Tests proved these “Super Puppies” were found to be more active and more exploratory than non-stimulated puppies. It was also noted that the non-stimulated pups became extremely aroused, whined, and made many errors. The puppies that received ENS were less upset by test conditions, were calmer, made fewer errors and gave only an occasional distress sound when stressed.

Curriculum With Purpose

At three weeks of age, we integrate BAB’s “Puppy Massage” program. This 10 step approach is used to make sure puppies are exposed and desensitized to various types of touch and handling. We perform various socialization exercises and expose puppies to a variety of outside stimuli, helping to build their confidence and trust at each puppy’s individual developmental needs. We perform the Badass Breeder puppy aptitude test (devised and written by Jeanette Forrey) focusing on 12 important puppy temperament traits to help make sure you get a puppy that fits you, your lifestyle and your needs as well as honoring who the puppy is. To read more about what is included with your puppy purchase, head over to our Purchase Info tab.

About Little About Us

Jason and I both grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho and are lucky enough to still call it home. We met as High School Sweethearts way too many years ago and have been having fun together since. Our two active and loving teenage boys, Evan 18 and Sean 15 keep us busy. We enjoy spending time outdoors together, including on Lake Pend Oreille, one of the deepest and largest lakes in the United States. We also enjoy skiing and boarding, hiking and just hanging out together at home with our Pack.

Always an animal lover.

I’ve always wanted to breed dogs; I just didn’t know how to get things started. Previously, it never seemed possible, more like a pipe dream. I remember in a job interview when I was 19, one of the questions I was asked was, “If you could do anything for a job, what would it be?” I remember answering, “Breeding dogs”. Funny how things like that stick in your head.

Throughout the years, Jason and I, no matter where we lived, would find a local shelter to volunteer in. We did everything from walking dogs, plating with the cats, to cleaning kennels and even doing evaluations to help place the dogs in their appropriate home.

How did we get here?

What led us to breeding doodles and poodles? We have owned and trained dogs our whole lives. We always had to have a dog by our side for hikes, couch time and car rides, but as time passed and I got older, my mild allergies turned into something more. I noticed it didn’t matter what time of year it was, the coveted snuggle time I so enjoyed with my pooches was leading to more intense allergy troubles. To combat this, I was on allergy medication more frequently than I wanted to be and knew if we wanted to keep dogs a large part of our lives, I had to find a better solution.

Enter Luna & Stella

Knowing I would never want to live without dogs I started reading and researching hypoallergenic breeds. This led us to Goldendoodles. The combination of the ever popular, easy going family pet of the Golden Retriever and the amazing intelligence and hypoallergenic properties of the Poodle seemed like an ideal mix. We were sold and jumped in with enthusiasm!

It took a while to find just what we were looking for and had we had to travel out of state for our girls Luna and Stella, but they were worth it! They instantly stole our hearts! Not to mention, we had never had puppies that were so easy! Yes, it took lots of work! It was like having babies again, getting up in the middle of the night, everyone on a schedule, but after a few weeks at home, WOW! No wonder this mixed breed is so popular!

An Idea Was Born

We quickly knew this was something we wanted to do fulltime, and we knew we could do it well and do it right with the assistance of other amazing breeders and the Badass Breeder Program!

After a ton of research, talking to breeders, talking to our vet, talking to each other, we knew the time was right to expand our family even more. This is how Pack River Poodles and Doodles was born.

We knew we wanted to do it the right way. With respect to our pets and honoring their future puppies we would help bring into this world. Breeding holistically, putting the dogs needs first and providing the best start possible for future Poodles and Doodles.
